The full moon in May is recognized by the United Nations and celebrated around the world by millions of Buddhists as Vesak Day. On this very holy day, we honor the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of our Supreme Guide Buddha Shakyamuni.
In the Dzogchen Buddha Path Lineage, we officially celebrate these holy events on the 7th day of the 4th lunar month during Saga Dawa in accordance with the historical dates found in the Sutras and Tantras. However, our Sangha also commemorates the globally recognized Vesak day in order to join and support the virtuous activities of Buddhist Lineages worldwide.
This year’s program will include special teachings and ceremonies led by our Holy Vajra Master along with Dzogchen Buddha Path authorized Bodhi Lamas and Dharma Teachers. The full program will last for 3 hours.

About the 2025 Dzogchen Buddha Path Vesak Day Celebration Event
Vesak Day, also known as Buddha Jayanti, is one of the most important and widely celebrated holidays in the Buddhist calendar. It commemorates Buddha Shakyamuni’s birth, enlightenment, and transformation into Deathless Rainbow Body, the Supreme Lord, Padmasambhava. The day is observed on the full moon day of the Vaisakha month in the Buddhist lunar calendar, which typically falls in April or May, because this was the date that Buddha Shakyamuni was born, the date he attained awakened omniscience, as well as the date that he transformed into Padmasambhava. This year Vesak Day will occur on May 12th.
The significance of Vesak Day can be summarized in the following key events in the life of Buddha:
-
Birth: Buddha Shakyamuni was born as Prince Siddhartha in Lumbini (modern-day Nepal) in 960 BCE.
-
Enlightenment: Buddha Shakyamuni attained awakened omniscience at the age of 35 in Bodhgaya through meditating Dzogchen.
-
Transformation into Deathless Rainbow Body, the Supreme Lord, Padmasambhava: Through the power of Buddha Shakyamuni’s unconditional love, at the age of 82 in Kushinagar, India, Buddha Shakyamuni transformed into Deathless Rainbow Body, the Supreme Lord, Padmasambhava.
On Vesak Day, we gather as a Buddhist sangha to celebrate and commemorate these auspicious events in Buddha Shakyamuni’s life. So please join us this year along with our Holy Vajra Master along with the Dzogchen Buddha Path authorized Bodhi Lamas and Dharma Teachers to celebrate this very auspicious event!
